But who will protect the homeland?

This is the answer to the question of ensuring collective security. The question about ensuring personal safety can be found at: How to protect yourself and your loved ones?

The answer below is applicable to any country of residence (not only to the country where you were born)

What is the homeland?

You can accept the so-called homeland (motherland, fatherland etc.) or you can reject it because it imposes the threat of violence and does not stop the strong pressure on people.

In any case, the concept itself will often include the following:

  • Neighbours (of one nationality, faith, language, culture, or other)
  • Territories that these neighbours consider to be their own, including their resources and infrastructure)
  • The history of previous generations

Who threatens the homeland?

We are talking about mass aggression (fanatics, fascists etc.) when dialogue and persuasion are already not possible.

How to protect the homeland?

  • The history does not require protection by killing and maiming people
  • Territories, resources, infrastructures are often valued more than human life and are protected accordingly: by threats and killings. You, as someone who pays to maintain these objects (or the opposite, not having anything to do with them), can think differently and use pre-prepared nonviolent protection methods instead of murders, see Peace Initiatives Guide
  • Neighbours are people who today consider themselves and you as compatriots and have built their life and yours around this (borders, state, army etc.). You have the right to refuse to kill and to help with nonviolent collective protection, see Peace Initiatives Guide.

If your neighbours do not take care of such protection in advance, you have the absolute right to act on your own fear and risk, but they can condemn and limit you, or even simply kill you for this.

So, who will protect the homeland? *

The security forces by maiming and murder.

People of good will by nonviolence.

But only if the former, which is intolerant of peace and nonviolence and used to commanding and obeying, do not kill the latter, let alone their own, those with whom they share a homeland.

* Applicable to any host country (not only the country where you were born)
